The Designer
Rachel Elizabeth Wood designs exceptional jewellery for the modern woman and man. Her unique, natural world inspired designs create heirlooms for future generations. Her craftsmanship has given her a global reputation for effortlessly melding the traditional and the contemporary to create beautifully distinctive aesthetic pieces.
After training as a classical goldsmith and silversmith, Rachel started her career in the jewellery industry in 2009. Since then she has worked for the very best fashion houses in London and with the world renowned The Goldsmiths Company.
Rachel grew up in the north of England on her family’s farm surrounded by beautiful inspirational countryside. As a little girl she was always making accessories and decorating her ponies and the various family pet dogs.
“I was horse mad as a little girl, competing at shows with various customised accessories that I had made. I made diamante buttons to sew on my riding shirt and even studded my riding hat with diamantes too. I suppose I was always attracted to beautiful details and anything that sparkled.”
In 2012 Rachel was asked to make a horse racing trophy, which was incorporated in the exhibition at The British Museum as part of the Queens Diamond Jubilee celebrations. Since then Rachel has had the honour to showcase her work at the V&A in London and at The Goldsmiths Company.
Rachel Elizabeth Wood was established in 2012 with the aim to do things a little bit differently and create jewellery pieces, made in Britain without mass production, using true craftmanship. Ensuring modernity and timelessness that generations of women and men will wear and adore.
“It is very humbling to know that a piece of jewellery that you have spent weeks and sometimes months designing and making is going to be someone’s special treasure. In hundreds of years the stories they tell will outlive us all. Jewellery is for life and eventually for future generations of our loved ones – but first it’s ours to enjoy!”
